Ceylon Software Installation

Introduction

This installation manual covers the following Ceylon software for release version 2.02.05:

Note You must have administrative privileges for your computers in order to install Ceylon software.

Deployment options

MPF Gateway and Market Data Distributor can support multiple, concurrent, RocketSheet users and a variety of deployment options.

The basic guidelines for deploying MPF Gateway, Market Data Distributor, and RocketSheet are:

With this flexibility, Ceylon supports publishing to Bloomberg via Multi Product Feed ("MPF") for any number of licensed users, while reducing the number of computers needed for successful deployments.

Note This installation manual provides instructions for a multi-user deployment of MPF Gateway, Market Data Distributor, and RocketSheet. Please contact Ceylon Support if you plan a single-user deployment. Market Data Distributor is unnecessary for single-user deployments.

Preparing for installation

Obtain a licensed copy of Ceylon installation archive (file ending with extension ".zip").

Extract the contents of the Ceylon installation archive to your desktop or other location of your choosing. After extraction, the Ceylon installation files will be organized more or less as follows, depending upon Ceylon's operational packaging for your implementation:

You may also have folders or files Ceylon provided to assist you with testing.

Installing Common Configuration Files

On a single computer that will also serve as host for one running copy ("instance") of MPF Gateway:

  1. Create a Ceylon folder within the Program Files folder.

  2. Copy and paste the Common Configuration Files ("configs_mpf_mdd") folder to the Ceylon folder. You will normally find the Program Files folder in the Windows root directory at C:\Program Files.

You may change the name of the Common Configuration Files folder to another name of your choosing during installation. If you do so, make note of the name you choose, as you will need to include the name in path statements you enter in installation files for MPF Gateway and Market Data Distributor.

Note The host computer and directory for each MPF Gateway must have read and write access to the Common Configurations Files folder; the host computer and directory for Market Data Distributor must also have read access to the Common Configuration Files folder.

The Common Configuration Files folder includes these components, each of which is required for the proper function of your Ceylon software:
